Samsung announces Galaxy Beam with built-in projector

The MWC 2012 is just about to start and Samsung already has already announced a new phone. The first of what we believe is a long list of phones to come is the Galaxy Beam, whose pièce de résistance is a built-in projector. The projector uses a 15 lumens lamp that is capable of projecting a 50-inch wide high-definition image, although Samsung does not mention the actual resolution.
Other than that, the Galaxy Beam has a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera,

Huawei's press conference marks the beginning of the quad-core smartphone era at this year's Mobile World Congress, which for yet another year is held in sunny Barcelona. The Chinese have raised the expectations high and are keen to put themselves on the Android map.

 The big small player has grown ambitious to play in the same ballpark as the big Droids from Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony and Motorola.

Yeah, your mom threw out your complete 1968 Topps Baseball cards, but she won't be able to get her hands on your latest hobby, collecting these miniature Android figures. And while the value of these mini-vinyl toys doesn't approach that 1968 Willie Mays card, the Android collection looks much cooler.

Smartphones are supposed to be our everyday little helpers and sometimes even lifesavers. Well, pop singer Shakira had a close encounter with a sea lion, which made her BlackBerry the culprit for a sea lion attack - you can't make this up.



The "Hips don't lie" performer was apparently on an adventure trip where you get to watch seals and sea lions, and "was complaining to my guide Andrew that I never get to see wild animals up close on adventurous trips", she said.

Is Google planning to open a retail store in Dublin?

According to documents unearthed by Bloomberg, Google just might be building a dedicated retail outlet in Dublin, Ireland at their European headquarters. 





A planning application submitted to the local authorities there states that the "Google Store" would be open to the public and include 123 square meters of space. At present Google has tried out the retail experience in a smaller setting, by setting up a dedicated space for their Chromebooks in PC World and Currys in the UK.

Following last week's HTC Ville leakage, a new, unannounced HTC smartphone running Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0, and a Droid Incredible-style back panel has appeared online.
 The photos above (and a few more) have surfaced over on PhoneArena, suggesting that a 4G LTE-powered Droid Incredible 2 successor could be coming to big red in the future.
